PhotoBioModulation is most commonly referred to as Red Light Therapy. At times it may still be referred to as Laser Therapy, Cold Light Therapy, PBM Red Light Therapy, Cold Laser Therapy, Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) or sometimes LED Therapy.

All are forms of PhotoBioModulation. All are effective for their designed purpose.

Different naming conventions reflect the evolution of the modality as new, more effective light sources offering more wavelengths have became available (from Laser, to LED, to Plasma).

Delivery mechanisms too have progressed over time: offering better filtration systems to enhance safety and deliver active treatment to more cells.
